Sooner than the Blackhawks' response.
In May 2010, Blackhawks leaders were told their video coach was sexually harassing a player. They waited until the Stanley Cup was won, then let him resign without an investigation.
His name went on the Cup that fall. The Blackhawks didn't tell anyone outside the club why he left. He went on to work for USA Hockey, Notre Dame and Miami University, then volunteered with a high school hockey team in Michigan. In 2013, he pleaded guilty to criminal sexual conduct involving one of that team's players.
"If we had known that (was) the reason he was let go with the Blackhawks, he wouldn't have been working with our high school kids,"
In 2021, after the club's own investigators reported what happened, the Blackhawks asked the Hockey Hall of Fame to cross his name off the Cup.
The X's cover one name. This site will cover the rest: what the Blackhawks, the NHL, the NHLPA and the Hall of Fame knew, and what they did next. Every claim will link to its source.
